"Please don't tie up your dog outside!" That was the message people in cities across the country were trying to send when they chained themselves to doghouses for the fifth Annual Chain-Off event.
Called "Unchain the 50" and organized by Dogs Deserve Better, a nonprofit based in Pennsylvania, the event included more than 100 people in 36 states. Having only a few feet in which to move around and braving the heat,hummidity, boredom and exhaustion that came from spending up to 24 hours outside, the volunteers personified the misery that chained dogs feel.
